About Rachel Fields
Rachel Fields is an instructor-in-training of the sympto-thermal method of natural family planning (NFP) through SymptoPro.
My passion for fertility awareness
I realized I was called to teach fertility awareness when I would bring up cycle charting in most of my conversations with women.
Growing up, I knew NFP existed, but I never really knew what it entailed. I was engaged when I started looking into birth control options, but I didn’t feel comfortable using hormonal birth control. That’s when I came across a book instructing me on how to use the Sympto-Thermal method of natural family planning. I was hooked. After learning how to chart on my own, I decided to take a SymptoPro class to better understand the method. I wish I had taken the class sooner! There is a big difference learning how to chart your cycles from an instructor than from a book. Learning how to chart should be personalized and specific, as each woman has her own menstrual cycle experience.
I believe that every woman (and their partners) should know what NFP is and how their bodies work. Before learning about the sympto-thermal method, I didn’t even know the different stages of the menstrual cycle. Knowing how your body works is so empowering and important. That’s why I teach NFP.
While no method of birth control, including NFP, is 100% effective, I love the benefits of charting. I could talk about it all day (so feel free to ask!).
Even though I wish fertility awareness instruction was my full-time job, I am a marketer by day. My husband Andy and our pug Gouda currently live in Chicago’s northwest suburbs.
